The Cape Hatteras Anglers Club was founded in 1957 and held its first invitational surf fishing tournament that year. The Cape Hatteras Invitational Surf Fishing Tournament is the largest surf fishing tournament of its kind on the East Coast, and possibly the world.

On Wednesday and Friday nights we have an open house from 7 -9 p.m. for all the tournament participants and their guests. On Thursday night there is a tackle show at the clubhouse which is open to the public. 120 teams will participate in the tournament. On Friday evening prizes, gift certificates and trophies are awarded to members of the top three teams. On Saturday morning we host an individual fishing tournament, open to the public. Entry fees are waived for participants under 16 years of age.
